MATERIALS
The early Iroquois placed a high value on certain natural materials (white shells, quartz crystals, and copper), associating the power of life and wisdom with their colour and reflectivity. The shiny, translucent glass beads brought over by the Europeans in the early 16th century were quickly incorporated into the Iroquois belief system.
