Eishim Uezato was born on February 2, 1927, in Araraquara, São Paulo, Brazil. At the age of seven, he was already working on a cotton plantation, helping spread chemicals to exterminate pests. When he was older, he studied to become a mechanic and got a job at the local railway, but his wages were not enough to live on and so he moved to São Paulo, the largest city in Brazil.

He stayed there for three years, working in garages. Then, his father, who owned a thriving ice-cream store, told him "You're wasting your time!" and asked him to return to Araraquara. So Eishim did; and since then he has become a part of the history of that little store, where anyone can find him to this day selling ice-cream...
